And London keeps on giving... Another two favourites of the AW10 shows were Richard Nicoll and Charles Anastase.

I have always felt strangely ambivalent about Charles Anastase. I love his concept and the colours and shapes he uses, however the dresses and the whole looks were often too babydoll-ish for me. In a way, his style was both too girly and childish but too grown-up at the same time. A weird concept, I know. I think my style had to evolve and grow in order to understand the subtle sexiness of it all.
This time around, I have fell in love: his coats are to die for! His use of colours and textures is amazing and I feel like jumping on a model, steeling a coat, wrapping me inside it and run.. Seriously, can you think of anything looking more comfortably appropriate right now?
He's been designing those high-waisted floaty trousers for a while now. They're not without remembering -his muse and creative consultant- Valentine Fillol-Cordier's personal style. Until now, I never had considered this shape but with my latest obsession with the 70s, they seems very appropriate. My top look? The third silhouette. It is soft, sexy and classic at the same time. If I could achieve this look this winter, I will have reached perfection. So I'll keep Charles's designs in mind and try my best...
P.S: No point in even mentioning the shoes in this one, Anastase has been literally killing it for the last few seasons, platform shoes-wise... so no change here...

Richard Nicoll AW 10 (pic: style.com)

Let' move onto Richard Nicoll now.. Talking about perfect style, the guy has managed to make his outfits both feminine and masculine, soft and sexy and fitted and loose at the same time. Talk about perfection! As I am growing older, I have noticed that what I like in the different shows are not crazy designs that can only be purchased at one place. No, what I like is a certain style, an assortment of colours which pinpoint exactly the "feel" I'd personally want to achieve. Nicoll's collection is exactly that. The way he's played around with colours, length and the different sheerness of textures is something I would love to manage on a daily basis. The silk pants and jumpers look soft, the leather gloves balance perfectly the boyishness of shirt collars and rolled up sleeves, and the drape of pants and trench-coat nicely counterbalances what could have been a plain classic look. I just love it.

So yes, you've guess it, when I grow up I want be a half Anastase, half Nicoll woman. Wish me luck..

London Fashion Week favourites

London Fashion week is always my favourite. I know, I'm French, but when it comes to edgy designers you can't beat the Londoners.
As always there was a lot to chose from so today I'll start with two designers that I have like and followed for a while: Marios Schwab and Osman Yousefzada. Both designers have had really good past collections, and their AW10 designs didn't disappoint.

Marios Schwab AW10 (pics: style.com)

Let's start with Marios Schwab. First of all, the colour palette is great. I don't want to wear black no more, and navy, taupe and white seems to be what will fit. I love how he played with proportions and 3d details. Those "love-heart" cropped jackets worn over dresses and shirts are absolutely amazing. Sadly, I doubt this is something I will somehow manage to D.I.Y..
I also love the mix of cotton and leather and this traditional Swiss-inspired dress is both edgy and quirky at the same time.
Oh and let's not forget the ankle boots: who knew I'd be wanting to buy navy shoes?
With braid detailing and garments mixing both draping and the strictness of structured collars, Marios has managed to come up with a highly desirable collection. I'm not sure how I'll manage to transfer this into my wardrobe, but it will surely stay in a corner of my mind when I'll shop for winter!

Osman Yousefzada has been a personal favourite of mine since his SS09 collection and his new winter collection was also to my liking. The same way Marios stayed away from black, Osman had his designs focus on a muted colour palette. Grey tights seem to work with everything: I'll have to add this to my shopping list.
The outfits are feminine with an utilitarian touch. Parkas are paired with floaty skirts, and jumpers have heavy bead details. The accessories, as usual, are on top of my wish list. I love love Osman's shoes every time. Same thing goes for the sunglasses. And did I mention I am obsessed with hats? Somehow those "Canadian army" hats seem to finish outfits pretty well. I'll have to look into this!

I've had it!

Last year, in an attempt to look more "sophisticated" I had one hell of a stupid idea: getting rid of all my pairs of jeans.
I had been wearing jeans most of the time and the plan was that by getting rid of them all, I'd have to make an effort figuring out what to wear in the morning instead of extending my hand and grab a pair of jeans. It was meant to transform me into this classic, elegant woman that will manage to come up with a classic mix of dresses, skirt and black tailored pants every single day.
I think the motivation also got helped by the fact that I had to pay rent and believe it or not, good pairs of jeans sell like hotcakes on e-bay.

To cut the chase, let's just say that the plan failed miserably.

First of all, my life isn't cut for girly dressing. I don't really take public transports and most of my time is spent running around carrying metal bits and when I work, it is down on my knees in a studio, break bits and pieces with a hammer or reconstructing bits and bobs with epoxy glue and pliers. Try and do this in 5" stilettos and a pencil skirt. At least with jeans I could wipe off the dirt on my hands on each pockets and I'd look presentable.

Second of all, I am not this kind of woman. I can't be bothered wearing things I am not comfortable in. I love heels but heels I can walk in, things I could almost run around with. I love dresses but ones I could climb stuff with, not the ones that restrict you to mini steps. I do look after myself and do my nails and make-up but deep down, I have always been a tomboy and even if I love to dress up for occasions, most of the time I'm just me.

Last and not least most of the women I look up to are women that can just throw on a pair of jeans and a mens shirt and look amazing. Look at Sofia Coppola, look at Chloe Sevigny, they're extraordinary women, working women and they do wear jeans!

Who was I try to fool? I miss the easy mornings, I miss my cowboy shirts and my double denim, I miss it all. I just want to be myself again: I need a decent pair of jeans!!!

Forgive me..

... bank account for I have sinned...
It's just that I could resist this pair of Acne shoes I had been wanting for ages, in my size, at a portion of their original price. E-bay, e-bay.. you getting me in trouble...

More pictures of these beauties when they arrive! Oh, and more posts coming soon, I have been busy organizing my lookbook shoot all week: after tonight, I'm free!

I know I said I had been bored all NYFW but it isn't entirely true. There was a few good collections even if nothing blew my mind like Rodarte. However those three designer below came up with some extremely desirable looks, so thumbs up to them!

Love the hats, the high-waisted floaty mens pants, the bicolour short sleeves blazer, the camel coat.. It like something out of a 70s issue of Vogue which can't be a bad thing... I think lately I have been falling for the 70s all over again.

The same high-waisted mens pants stealing my heart. A few amazing collarless jackets and a long belted coat to die for: all paired with leather pants. Now, that's style!

Oh boy, where to start? I guess the whole colour palette had me completely sold. So did the fact that all these outfits looked extremely comfortable as if wrapped up in a giant soft blanket. There's been lot of collarless jackets and coats these season and all of Ame's ones are perfect!
Oh, and let's not forget: the lemon leather mini and baggy leather shorts in both colours need to make their way into my wardrobe somehow!
